Yagi Tsusho Limited supports the purchase of a masterpiece for the Château de Fontainebleau in France to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Paris office.
2025.10.27Yagi Tsusho Limited (Head office: Osaka City, President&CEO: Yuzo Yagi) supports the acquisition of a painting for the Château de Fontainebleau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in France, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of our Paris office. To express our gratitude to France for its contribution to our growth, we have been considering how we could contribute to France and have been searching for a suitable candidate through the French Ministry of Culture.
The masterpiece that we decided to support the purchase is titled ” Ulysses confronts the sirens and crosses the strait between Charybdis and Scylla “, a 1569 painting by Ruggiero de’ Ruggieri. Based on the ancient Greek epic poem “The Odyssey,” the work depicts the hero Odysseus overcoming numerous challenges.
This is the last of three surviving works that attest to the Ulysses Gallery that is said to have once existed at the Château de Fontainebleau, and with this acquisition, the château now has all three works related to the gallery. With this support, the work will be preserved and made public as part of the palace’s cultural heritage, and it is expected that it will contribute to the promotion of artistic activities in the local community.

Since our founding, we have been engaged with cultures around the world through trade that connects countries. Our activities are not limited to the economic sphere; they also involve deepening understanding and respect for international society, the environment, and culture through social contributions and cultural support.
Our company remains committed to creating social value and contributing to a sustainable future through continued engagement in international cultural exchange.
