A shirt brand representing northern Italy, Orian was founded by the late Gian Gaetano Orian in pursuit of what he considered to be the ideal shirt. Rejecting shirts that were too loud or which were adorned with excessive ornamentation, Gian Orian believed shirts that accentuated the wearer’s individuality to be ideal and that this was where elegance was to be had. This philosophy of craft rests in fusing Italy’s traditional artisan skill with the highest level of machine technology. Gian Orian engaged in constant trial and error in his attempts to reflect the extent to which the "sartor" art (the work of the traditional tailors) could be embodied. To this end, he commented that a good shirt is hard to make.

“What is worn close to the skin must be pleasant -- as if it were a second skin. To obtain quality that feels as comfortable as the flesh requires prudence in cutting and sewing.”

The founder’s sentiments exist to this day, enabling Orian’s quality to be maintained. Authentic shirts continue to be made that are light and reflect this airy quality.
