English/French design team John and Monique Davidson have been designing together since 1976. Their style is an eclectic mix of old and new cultures, design aesthetics, brought together successfully blending classicism and modernism. Their artistic training has instilled in them an appreciation of European decorative and cultural traditions which is inherent in their work. Extensive global travel and exploration continually inspires and stimulates the creativity for which they are renowned.
J & M Davidson was set up as an independent company in 1984, following their extensive involvement with a series of labels at the exclusive end of the European fashion spectrum. This move has enabled them to put their own signature to what is now a unique fashion business, one that exemplifies a quality of design and production that is synonymous with the J & M Davidson label. An initial freestanding store was established at 62 Ledbury Road, Notting Hill Gate in 1992, one of the first fashion lead stores to open in that area.
Unusual and exclusive belts for men and women were the springboards from which other J & M Davidson ranges were launched. They have now grown to include an extensive range of “luxe” handbags, luggage and leather goods - knit and outerwear were an inevitable progression, as well as there own brand denim range. The lifestyle element further manifests itself through their extensive range of “J & M Davidson Maison”.
In the Spring of 1989, J & M Davidson opened a two floor flag ship shop in Ledbury Road at no.42. This stocks the entire J & M Davidson collection ranging from ready to wear, bags and small leather goods, jewellery, furniture, luggage, and the home wear line.
In October 2002, a J & M Davidson gallery was launched at 97 Golborne Road, W10. This space is used to exhibit new up and coming artists alongside vintage furniture and objects d’art which are all for sale. |
